"In whatever I must be especially clever, in that I am indeed naturally so. First, however, listen to this messenger here and learn from him. He has come from the mountains to bring you news. Don't worry. We will stay right here; we won't try to escape." - EuripidesHarry Potter Drinking Game?
You've probably heard of the “Harry Potter” series. And, you've probably formed some kind of opinion of the that series. They are not good books. But they do have a particular use-value, and my friends and I have discovered a method for taping that use-value.
It's a matter of context; contextualism. Among other things, contextualists have argued that contextualism spells the doom of truth-conditional semantics.
“Harry Potter = Crap!” What could this mean? So many things!
“Harry Potter = Hilarious!” What could this mean? So many things!
You get the picture...
We've managed to develop a contextual setting in which “Harry Potter = Crap” is False and, so, with reference, “Euripides = Crap” is True.
It's kind of like magic.
Stay tuned...
